KACAP Announces New Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the Kansas Association of Community Action Programs (KACAP) is pleased to announce the selection of Gary Brunk as the association’s new executive director. Gary fills the vacancy created by Tawny Stottlemire’s departure in September 2014 to assume the executive director position for Community Action, Inc.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of KACAP, I am delighted to welcome Gary as our new executive director,” said Board Chair Linda Broyles. He brings a wealth of experience in the nonprofit world to the association.”
Prior to coming to KACAP, Gary served as executive director of several area nonprofit organizations, including Kansas Action for Children, the Corporation for Change, and the ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri.
“The slow recovery from the Great Recession has meant that thousands of Kansans remain in poverty or are teetering on its edge,” said Mr. Brunk. “Creating more ladders to reach the middle class is one of our state’s great challenges. I am thrilled to work for an organization willing to take on that challenge.”
Kansas Association of Community Action Programs is the membership association for Community Action Agencies (CAAs) in Kansas. KACAP’s goals are to: 1) help member agencies be strong and more effectively able to pursue their individual missions to end poverty; 2) help Kansas develop a comprehensive model to end poverty; and 3) be the leading advocate in promoting an end to poverty.
